Quantitative and qualitative capabilities of biomass production of Artemia in polyethylene tankers with 1.2 m3 diluted Inche salt lake water set at salinity of 60 ppt, and average initial stocking density of 2700 N/Lit. were evaluated during a culture period of 21 days in a batch culture system. A mixed diet including small amount of green algae Dunaliella, baker’s yeast and rice bran (as main food source) were used as food source. At the end of the experiment following results were obtained: an average total length of 8.02 mm, final survival of 25.5 percent, and an average biomass production of 2276 gr/m3. A feed conversion ratio of 0.41 was recorded for rice bran and yeast. Artemia reached a final weight of 3.45 mg at the end of the experiment. In the view point of nutritional value, produced biomass showed a protein content of 37.5 percent, while its fatty acid profile was rich in fatty acids with 18 carbons in their chain

In this work the effect of Lactobacillus rhamnosus and black seed (Nigella sativa) powder was studied on growth and feeding parameters of rainbow trout. The feeding treatments used were (1) rainbow trout commercial diet (control)، (2) commercial diet supplemented with Lactobacillus rhamnosus (108 CFU/Kg feed)، (3، 4، 5) commercial diet supplemented with the same probiotic bacteria and 25، 50 and 100 g black seed powder/Kg feed respectively. 900 rain bow trout fingerlings (average wt. 36g) were cultured in 15 concrete tanks containing 400 L underground well water for a period of 60 days. The fish were fed three times every day to apparent satiation. Maximum weight gain، standard length، specific growth rate، feed efficiency ratio and daily feed intake and minimum feed efficiency rate (FCR) were observed in group fed on feed containing probiotic bacteria and 25 g black seed/Kg feed compared to the control and the fish received 100 g black seed in their feed (P < 0.05). It was concluded that supplementation of 108 CFU Lactobacillus rhamnosus and 25 g black seed powder/Kg feed can positively influence the growth and feeding parameters of rain bow trout.

In this research biometrical characteristics of Artemia urmiana, Artemia sinica and parthenogenetic Artemia were studied under laboratory conditions (salinity: 70 ppt, temp.: 24±2°C and DO: 4±0.5 ppm). For this purpose, two gram cysts from each population were hatched and 400 newly hatched nauplii (in 4 replicates) transferred to 1.5 liter cylindro-conical containers containing 70 pptbrine water. Artemia were fed on unicellular algae, Dunaliella tertiolecta and coated yeast, Lansy PZ until adulthood. 32 pairs of adult bisexual Artemia and 32 adult parthenogenetic females from either population were randomly selected and biometric and meristic characters such as total length, length of furca, number of setae on furca and uterus length and width (in females) were recorded. Biometric and meristic characters measured with projection Stereomicroscope. Data were analysed using SPSS (ANOVA and Duncan tests). Results of this research showed that total length and abdomen length in A. urmiana was significantly longer compared to other populations (p<0.05). Length of furca and number of setae on both furca were significantly lower in A. urmiana compared to other species, while no significant differences were observed between A. sinica and parthenogenetic Artemia.
