Introduction: The Roodbast Wetland in Mazandaran Province serves as a vital agricultural water source and a winter refuge for certain migratory bird species. The analysis of floristic composition and plant diversity within wetland ecosystems stands as a pivotal indicator for monitoring environmental shifts.Method: This study encompassed field data collection, followed by laboratory analysis to identify and ascertain the floristic composition, life forms, and chrotype of the plant species within the Roodbast Wetland. Results and discussion: A total of 153 species of vascular plants, distributed across 123 genera and 47 families, have been identified within the Roodbast Wetland. Among these, Poaceae stands out with 16 species (10.46%), followed by Asteraceae with 15 species (9.8%), making them the most prominent plant families. The prevailing life form is Therophyte, while the dominant chorotype consists of pluriregional elements. In terms of habitat distribution, the majority consists of hygrophyte species (43.8 percent), followed closely by marginal species (38.6 percent).

Plantago major L. is one of the most important medicinal plants used in traditional medicine worldwide. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of ecological and edaphic factors on the active ingredients of this plant. For this purpose, the Plantago major was collected from different regions of Mazandaran province, namely Shorab, Pain Kola, and Panbeh Zar Koti. Phenol and flavonoid levels from acidic methanol extract of plant samples were calculated using standard curve of Gallic acid and Quercetin, respectively. Antioxidant activity of the samples were investigated by three methods of DPPH, Nitric oxide and Reducing power. Our results showed that all of the Plantago major not only have a total phenol, flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity but also they have a biological activity of the extract depends on its phenol and flavonoid content. On the other hand, the antioxidant function of Plantago major species is affected by weather conditions as well as habitat characteristics and edaphic factors. On the basis of these findings, it is suggested that the identification of the potential of the Plantago major extract and selection of optimal phenological habitat and phases is essential and enables the extraction of effective ingredients in the applied of the products and the ability to enhance the medicinal yield of the plants.

Euphorbia helioscopia L. is one of the important medicinal plants used in traditional medicine all over the world. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of ecological and edaphic factors on the active ingredients of this plant. For this purpose, the Euphorbia plant was collected from 3 different altitudes (1861, 949 and 236 m) with 3 replications. The extract was then prepared using acidic methanol and its phenol content was calculated according to the standard curve of gallic acid and flavonoid based on the quercetin curve. Its antioxidant activity was also investigated in 3 methods of DPPH, nitric oxide and reducing power. This study has clearly shown that the biological activity of the extract depends on the amount of phenol and its flavonoids. The results of this study show that Euphorbia plant in Challufe region has the best antioxidant activity in the nitric oxide test and at the highest concentration (800 μg/ml) compared to the other two regions. Our results also showed that the ability of the extracts of Euphorbia in the three studied areas to inhibit nitric oxide free radicals was concentration dependent and increased with increasing concentration of their anti-radical activity. The results of this study showed that the species of Euphorbia had a high total phenol and flavonoid content and antioxidant activity. Which can be used as a medicinal plant species.

Algae are important aspects that can be extremely numerous applications in pharmaceutical, food, agricultural, medical uses and also used in wastewater treatment. In this study total phenolic and flavonoid contents of two types of green algae was performed by spectrophotometic and high performance liquid chromatography methods. In this study, Cladophora glomerata was collected from Caspian coast and estuaries of the Babolrood river and Spirogyra rivularis were collected from a pond adjacent rice paddies and livestock. Then extracted with acidified methanol produced a total phenolic compounds spectrophotometric method and HPLC method was used for the analysis of flavonoids in plants. Study of methanol extracts of four different regions of Cladophora and Spirogyra showed the greatest amount of phenolic compounds gallic acid according to Spirogyra algae in ponds and rice fields most of the flavonoid quercetin in terms of Cladophora algae in the estuary. According to the standard chromatogram retention time gallic acid (2.383), coumaric acid (3.817) and quercetin (7.217) was observed. So most of the time to prevent the inhibition of quercetin and gallic acid is less time. The two types of green algae rich in phenolic compounds and also have high antioxidant property so it can be used as a plant source of antioxidant compounds that can be used in food and pharmaceutical industries.

Number of methods developed for remediation of heavy metals from aqueous effluent, but generally they require high investment, operation and maintenance costs. Recently many studies have been done for exploration cost effective ways for removal of heavy metals. One of the effective technologies to remove heavy metals is to use bio-absorbents which are economical, easy to access, and conformed to environmental standards. The aim of this research was to study the biosorption level of nickel using Gracilaria sp. In this study, the batch removal of nickel (II) ions from aqueous solution under different experimental conditions using of Gracilaria was investigated. The nickel (II) uptake was dependent on initial pH, with pH 5 being the optimum value. The equilibrium data were fitted using Langmuir isotherm model. The maximum nickel sorption was attained within the first 15 min and the sorption equilibrium was reached after 120 min.

The aim of this work is to investigate Pseudomonas sp. as biosorbent, for the fixation of nickel ions in batch reactor. Pollution of the environment by toxic metals is a major environmental problem. In a first step, biosorption kinetics and isotherms have been performed at pH 5.0. The equilibrium time was about 5 min and the adsorption equilibrium data were well described by the Langmuir`s equation. The maximum capacity has been extrapolated to 6.44 mg.g-1. The release of nickel ions, from Pseudomonas sp. bye desorption agent such as nitric acid, has been studied. Finally the effects of biomass form, effect of pH values, were studied. These results indicate that the Pseudomonas sp is an excellent candidate for use in reactor to remove nickel ions from polluted aqueous effluents.
